Charles stood up and stretched when the movie ended. He went to the kitchen, put the dishes in the sink and started the hot water. Light footsteps pattered behind him while he filled up the sink. He caught the scent of lilies and honeysuckle behind him. Chantelle cuddled her front against his back, so yielding and warm. Her hands reached around his waist and then plunged into the soapy water beside him. He ducked when she splashed him.

“Just washing my hands!” She rubbed herself against him. Little vixen.

He turned around and put his wet hands on her face, drawing her up for a kiss. He lingered, running his tongue over her lips, then going in to explore every crevice of her mouth. She tasted good—wine, tomato sauce, basil. He could eat her right up.

When he came up for air, he saw Yvette enter the kitchen. She brought herself up short, saying, “Sorry!” Then she put a hand on her cheek. “Oh, I just remembered I have to get Nadiya home now. We have to be up early tomorrow,” she said.

Chantelle turned her head, leaning against his chest. She belonged right there. “You don’t have to go!” she protested.

“Kat said she had to get to the café early in the morning.” Yvette turned around, called for her daughter, then stepped into the living room.

Charles cradled Chantelle for a millisecond, then let her go so they could follow Yvette.

Nadiya packed up her gift bags and looked up at Charles. “Thanks for the movies, Charles.”

That was the best part of the night—so far. Pleasing her friends. But maybe there would be better parts with her soon.

Everyone tidied up the living room. Dominick was talking to Kat. Derrick reported that he was heading back to the resort for the night and Dominick would stay at Marie’s. “If you need him to come back here, just text. We’re not presuming anything but we want to give you your privacy.” Charles watched Chantelle blush—she was so adorable when she did that. So many of the women he had dated didn’t want privacy. They wanted the whole world to know they were going out with a billionaire. Chantelle was different.

After a flurry of farewells, he was suddenly alone with Chantelle at the door. He wrapped her in his arms. “I thought they’d never leave!”

“I feel bad,” Chantelle said. “They practically ran away when we started kissing.”

“They looked happy. Besides Kat and Yvette gave me their blessing this week. But if I hurt you, they said they’ll show no mercy.”

“Kat is scary when she’s angry. And Yvette is a typical mama bear. So you’d better be careful.”

He gave her a hug, tucking her head under his chin. Just the way he liked to hold her. “I had a great night. I love having a full house. Reminds me of holidays at Grand-maman’s.” She put her arms around him and it felt like he was home. “When I was a kid, I told Grand-maman that I was going to have ten kids and thirty grandkids.
